  • 5 Step back to Medieval times

My brother, a keen photographer, asked me down to his Kent pad to help out with some of his photo shoots. Knowing I was a sucker for castles and ancient piles of rubble he knew I couldn’t resist being his pack mule for the day.It was a beautiful warm sunny day – probably the only one of the year and we set off for Bodiam Castle. There is ample parking at this place and a very nice man guides you to the spaces. A short walk up hill leads you to the castle and what an amazing sight it is. On the outside it appears mostly intact, sitting proudly surrounded by the moat. A quick hop along a bridge takes you into the actual castle. Some of the towers are still accessible and worth a climb to the top – great view once there however the stairs are very steep! I enjoyed wandering around the main parts of the castle whilst my trigger happy brother pretended to be Lord Litchfield. For castle lovers this place is most definitely worth a visit.
