HiI would be very interested to hear what you expect from your bed and breakfast, because in my view they have improved massively over the past decade. No longer are they chintzy, old-fashioned establishments run by crones who are mean with the margarine and expect you to vacate the premises between the hours of 10am-6pm!You get a bigger bang for your buck these days in a B&B. For a start, they will almost always charge under the hotels in their area simply because they don't have a 24-hour concierge and are often not licensed. Meanwhile, the breakfast is going to be freshly cooked rather than 'costed' and done in batches, so will taste enormously better than the mass produced variety prevalent in hotels.And the hosts are often the owners who have a vested interest in your happiness and enjoyment. They care if you come back, unlike casual catering staff in hotels.They will be happy to give you lots of information about the local area and perform the sort of services that in the old days were performed by a bell boy - for a hefty tip! I'm talking about booking you a restaurant, carrying your bags to your room, and so forth.Have you ever visited Tripadvisor? It's a website where guests can post their experiences at hotels and restaurants. They have ways of detecting cheating and generally speaking the reviews are honest and genuine.
