Bewl water is the largest lake in south east England. Reading the map in the information centre it appears houses once stood where the lake is now. It costs £6 entrance fee but once in you can stay all day. There is a café and shop, picnic areas and pretty grassy area to sit and look at the fishermen out on the lake. You can either take a boat trip or, for those feeling energetic, hire a bike and cycle the 17 odd miles around the lakes perimeter. My brother tells me during one evening in July there is a fantastic classical music concert with firework display. Must go to that sometime. If you like relaxing and watching the sun glistening on the water with the day drifting by this place is a must. It is so peaceful and tranquil, I’m so going again.
