Last Chance Animal Rescue Hartfield Road, ,
I went into last chance today as we very sadly lost our 14 year old dog recently and wished to offer another dog a home with our family and 2 other dogs. I was asked to fill in a form which I was happy to do. The form was then looked over by one of the staff who found many problems with my information. Firstly they would not re home a bitch with a bitch because they will fight apparently, secondly they thought putting a dog in a crate at night during the settling in period was totally unsatisfactory and too like a kennel and thirdly I agreed to neuter any dog rehomed but they also wanted me to neuter my pedigree registered bitch. At that point I said I wouldn't and they said good bye. I am all for vetting processes but they are verging on the ridiculous! I am a responsible dog owner as my vet would I'm sure agree. Bitches can live very happily together, I believe using a crate for an initial period at night time is a sensible precaution until totally confident that new dogs will get on when unsupervised and as for their neutering policy I totally agree that unregistered dogs should be neutered but their is a place for the sensible breeding of registered pedigree dogs with good temperaments. I now know why the car park at Last Chance was empty and their kennels full.
